SUBCONSCIOUS TRAINING IN ENGLISH SKILLS

Subconscious training in English skills is attained when adult learner performs simultaneously three activities - reading, listening and speaking. This patented solution was never used for learning languages before; it is developed for actively training learner’s mind, tongue and hearing at the same time. It requires the support in the native language organized in such a way that it eliminates the habit of translating incoming information into the mother tongue. Original app had support in Mandarin only; this version contains also support in other languages provided through Google Translate.

The Android application could be used in the classroom, after the class is over, online and offline, self-study or guided learning; basically anywhere anytime.

The application lets learners share recorded sessions with friends or with a teacher. Three types of texts are used in every lesson:

1. Pre-recorded lessons on various topics and drills, which ensure training of language skills instead of memorizing vocabulary lists or grammar rules.
2. Lessons added by a learner or a teacher, thus making the application interactive and suited for vocational training.
3. Inspirational poem recorded by a native speaker, which allows learners to re-enact an understandable situation in English.

The mobile application allows learners or teachers to create their own lessons by copying and pasting (or manually entering) text and using the high quality, natural-sounding text-to-speech voices to perform the simultaneous repetition of the new material. Text added by the learner or the teacher makes application interactive and suitable for vocational training.
The application contains eleven drills for Subconscious Training English skills which are explained on the website www.lbtechnology.net.

Each lesson starts with a cloud of words selected from the lesson to be learned next. Learners observe the words appearing randomly on the display while relaxing music plays for about a minute. This drill activates both hemispheres of the brain and strengthens subconscious learning by invoking “retention without remembering.” Learners recognize the new words and transfer them to long-term memory when they start working on other drills using simultaneous repetition.

Testing active vocabulary and fluency is built-in every lesson. The learners are instructed to perform testing after completion of each lesson by putting on the earphones and saying a few sentences on any topic ignited by the word randomly selected from the lesson. Built-in reading and speaking fluency test along with testing of active vocabulary provide gamification elements, necessary for a modern application. In addition, this type of testing develops a habit of automatic speech. Testing strengthens students’ faith in the method and gives them a positive feeling of success.
