The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen or AIMIM (translation: All India Council of the Union of Muslims) is a Muslim political party in Hyderabad, India. It has held the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 1984. In the 2014 Telangana Legislative Assembly elections, the AIMIM won seven seats. Till April 2014, the AIMIM was not recognised as a state-level party by the Election Commission of India, because the AIMIM did not meet the requirement of securing 6% of the total valid votes polls in the last general election, or of winning 9 Assembly seats. In June 2014, the Election Commission of India recognised the AIMIM as a state party in Telangana. The AIMIM was initially a city-based party, with influence only in Old Hyderabad but the party later won 2 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election, 2014. Party president and member of parliament Asaduddin Owaisi won the Sansad Ratna Award for his outstanding performance in the Lok Sabha.
