About Ancre Somme Association Android App
The Ancre Somme Association was founded in 2009 at the graveside of Sir William Allen by a group of likeminded individuals who wanted to honour the sacrifice, paid by the men of the 36th (Ulster) Division, and in particular the men of the 9th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, and of the 16th (Pioneer) Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles. We derive our name from the Ancre cemetery in Beaumont-Hamel, were a large portion of these men are laid to rest.
