من مواليد 17 شتنبر 1917م (فاتح ذي الحجة ۱۳۳۵ه) في قرية شبرا النملة بطنطا في محافظة الغربية. و هو من أشهر القراء المصريين للقرآن الكريم.

قام والد الشيخ محمود خليل الحصري بإدخاله للكتاب و عمره أربع سنوات ليتعلم تلاوة القرآن الكريم. و قد أتم حفظ الذكر الحكيم في الثامنة من عمره قبل الالتحاق بالمعهد الديني لطنطا بعد أربع سنوات.

تتلمذ الحصري في الأزهر حيث تمكن من ضبط الروايات العشر للقرآن ليصبح بعد ذلك قارئا للذكر الحكيم في مسجد قريته.

سنة 1944م، قدم الشيخ طلبا للالتحاق بالإذاعة المصرية، و تمكن من اجتياز اختبار القراءة و بالتالي تحقيق مبتغاه. و قد نقلت أول قراءة له على الأمواج الإذاعية مباشرة في 16 نونبر 1944م، و احتفظت بعد ذلك الإذاعة المصرية بالنقل الحصري لتلاوته خلال عشر سنوات.

عين محمود خليل الحصري كشيخ لمقرأة سيدي عبد المتعال بطنطا قبل أن يصبح مؤذنا لمسجد سيدي حمزة في 7 غشت 1948م ثم بعد ذلك قارئا في المسجد ذاته في 10 أكتوبر من نفس السنة.

و قد تم كذلك تعيين الشيخ بقرار وزاري كمشرف على مقارئ محافظة الغربية.

سنة 1949م، تولى الشيخ الحصري قراءة القرآن بمسجد سيدي أحمد البدوي بطنطا قبل أن ينقل إلى مسجد الإمام الحسين بالقاهرة سنة 1955م.

لقد كان محمود خليل الحصري أول من سجل القرآن الكريم مرتلا في مختلف رواياته (حفص عن عاصم، ورش عن نافع، قالون و الدوري). كما أنه كان أول من سجل المصحف المعلم و المصحف المفسر.

عين الشيخ رئيسا لاتحاد قراء العالم الإسلامي سنة 1968م و قد كان أول من تلا الذكر الحكيم في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي (الكونجرس) و هيئة الأمم المتحدة.

توفي محمود خليل الحصري يوم الاثنين ۱٦ محرم ۱٤۰۱ه الموافق ل 24 نونبر 1980م عن سن يناهز 63 سنة.

Born 17 September 1917 Light-Hijjah 1335 (e) in the village of El Ant in Tanta in the western province. And is the most famous Egyptian readers of the Holy Quran.

The father of Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil exclusive entered for the book and four-year-old learn to recite the Koran. And he has done keeping the Quran eight years old before joining the religious institute for Tanta after four years.

Schooled in the exclusive Al-Azhar where he was able to adjust the ten novels of the Qur'an to then become a reader of Hakim said at a mosque in his village.

1944, Sheikh applied to join the Egyptian radio, and was able to pass the reading test and thus achieve the goals only. And quoted the first reading on the radio waves directly on 16 November 1944, and then retained the Egyptian radio transport exclusive reading over ten years.

Appointed Mahmoud Khalil exclusive sheikh of Mqroh Sidi Abdel Metaal in Tanta before becoming a muezzin of the mosque of Sidi Hamza in August 7, 1948 and then a reader in the same mosque on October 10 of the same year.

And it has also been appointed Sheikh ministerial decree as a supervisor on the Mgari western province.

In 1949, the exclusive Sheikh took to read the Koran Mosque Sidi Ahmed Badawi in Tanta before being transferred to the Imam Hussein mosque in Cairo in 1955.

Mahmoud Khalil exclusive was the first of the Quran record Mrtla in various novels (Hafs from Asim, workshops Nafie, KALON and league). It was the first record of the Koran and the Koran teacher's interpreter.

Sheikh president of the Union of the readers of the Muslim world in 1968 and has been appointed the first to read out al-Hakim mentioned in the US Senate (Congress) and the United Nations body.

Mahmoud Khalil exclusive 24 November 1980's, died on Monday, 16 Muharram 1401 AH, corresponding to the age of about 63 years.
