Tıbbı Nebevi Arapça iki kelimeden meydana gelmiştir tıbb ” iyileştirme, sağaltma,tedavi”(Tıbb kelimesinin kökenlerinin tıp ilmi ile ünlü Mısır uygarlığına ait “Teb” şehrinden kaynaklandığıda ileri sürülmektedir)nebi ise” peygamber, elçi” anlamlarına gelmektedir “Tıbbı Nebevi” ise peygamberimizin bizzat kendisinin uyguladığı ve ümmetine tavsiye ettiği tıbbi uygulama ve tavsiyelerdir. Özellikle Hz. Muhammed’in(s.a.v)rahatsızlanan insanlar için Allah’ dan gelen ilhamla ve de toplumsal tecrübelere dayanarak yaptığı tedaviler tıbbı nebevi (peygamber tıbbı) olarak bilinir ve hadis kitaplarında önemli bir yer tutar.


Tıbbı Nebevi yasamın tüm safhalarını; sadece tek bir bireyin fiziksel ve ruhsal sağlığını değil,sosyal bir varlık olan insanın toplum içindeki davranışlarını,aile içindeki sorumluluklarını, kendine ve yakın akrabalarına karsı sorumluluklarını,yiyip içmesinden,uyuması ,düşünmesi,giyinmesi,evlenmesi, cinsel yasamı,is hayatı,hastalıkları ve bu hastalıklara tedavi yaklaşımlarına kadar hemen her şeyi ilgi ve etki alanı içine alır.
Peygamberimiz (s.a.v.) hem kendisi hastalandıkça hem de çevresindekilerin sağlıkları bozulunca çeşitli tedavi yolları ve ilaç olarak kullanılan nesnelerden bahsetmiş, bunları tavsiye etmiştir. Bazı araştırmacılar bunların tamamının veya çoğunun vahiyle bildirildiğini, isabetli olduğunu, yanlış veya yetersiz olma ihtimalinin bulunmadığını, bu m''nada bir “Peygamber tıbbı: Tıbb-ı Nebevî ”
bulunduğunu savunmuşlar dır.

Diğer bir kısmı ise Peygamberimizin (s.a.v.) tavsiye ettiği tedavi şekillerinin ve ilaçların (ilaç yerine kullanılan nesnelerin) hemen tamamı, hem içinde yaşadığı toplum tarafından hem de daha eski topluluklarca bilinmekte ve kullanılmakta idi, ilaç ve tedavi şekilleri ile araçları dünya işidir ve beşeri bilgi alanına girer. Beşeri bilgi de zamana, mekana, şartlara bağlı olarak değişir ve gelişir. Peygamberimizin tavsiye ettiği tedavi araçlarının çoğu beşeri bilgi ve tecrübeyle elde edilmiştir. Onları asmak ve daha iyileriyle değiştirmek dine de, sünnete de aykırı değildir demektedir.


Tıbb-i Nebevi ağırlıklı olarak koruyucu hekimlik tarzında yani hastalanmadan hastalıklardan korunma yöntemleri üzerine yoğunlaşmış bulunmaktadır. Bu yöntemlerle çok kapsamlı değerlendirmelere sahiptir. Kapsamlı değerlendirmeler içinde Kuran’da geçen tıpla ilgili ayetleri,tıpla ilgili hadisleri,tümden bir yasam felsefesini içinde barındırmaya kadar hemen her şeye kendine has yaklaşımları ile çağlar ötesinden muhteşemliğini günümüze taşıyabilmiştir…
