عنترة بن شداد بن قراد العبسي (525م - 608م) هو أحد أشهر شعراء العرب في فترة ما قبل الإسلام، وأشتهر بشعر الفروسية، وله معلقة مشهورة. يعتبر من أشهر الفرسان العرب، وشاعر المعلقات والمعروف بشعره الجميل وغزله العفيف بعبلة.
وكان من أحسن العرب شيمة ومن أعزهم نفساً، يوصف بالحلم على شدة بطشه، وفي شعره رقة وعذوبة.
