مقدمة المؤلف
قال الشيخ الإمام العالم العامل حجة الإسلام أبو حامد محمد بن محمد الغزالى الطوسى رحم الله وعفا عنه: الحمد لله وحده والصلاة والسلام على خير خلقة سيدنا محمد وآله وصحبه، هذا كتاب الكشف والتبيين فى غرور الخلق أجمعين. اعلم أن الخلق قسمان: حيوان وغير حيوان.. والحيوان قسمان: مكلف ومهمل.. فالمكلف من خاطبه الله بالعبادة وأمره بها.. ووعده الثواب عليها ونهاه عن المعاصى وحذره العقوبة..
ثم المكلف قسمان: مؤمن وكافر.. والمؤمن قسمان طائع وعاص.. وكل من الطائعين والعاصين ينقسم قسمين: عالم وجاهل..
ثم رأيت الغرور لازما لجميع المؤمنين المكلفين والكافرين. إلا من عصمه الله رب العالمين.. وأنا بحمد الله أكشف عن غرورهم وأبين الحجة فيه.. وأوضحه غاية الإيضاح. وأبينه غاية البيان بأوجز ما تكون العبارة.. وأبدع ما يكون من الإشارة.
والمغرورون من الخلق ما عدا الكافرين أربعة أصناف: صنف من العلماء.. وصنف من العباد.. وصنف من أرباب الأموال..وصنف من المتصوفة
