مقدمة المؤلف
قال الإمام السيوطي رحمه الله: الحمد لله وكفى وسلام على عباده الذين اصطفى، هذا كتاب سميته: (بشرى الكئيب بلقاء الحبيب) لخصته من كتابي الكبير الذي ألفته في أحوال البرزخ فصيرته على البشرى بما يلقاه المؤمن عند موته وفي قبره من التكريم والترحيب، وبالله التوفيق.
ذكر فضل الموت
وأنه خير من الحياة
عن عبد الله بن عمر قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: )تحفة المؤمن الموت(.
وعن الحسين بن علي: أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: )الموت ريحانة المؤمن(.
وعن عائشة - رضي الله عنها - قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : )الموت غنيمة المؤمن(.
وعن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: )الدنيا سجن المؤمن وسنته، فإذا فارق الدنيا فارق السجن والسنة(.
وعن عبد الله بن عمرو قال: )الدنيا جنة الكافر وسجن المؤمن، وإنما مثل المؤمن حين تخرج نفسه كمثل رجل كان في سجن فأخرج منه، فجعل يتقلب في الأرض ويتفسح فيها(.
وعن عبد الله بن عمرو قال: )الدنيا سجن المؤمن، فإذا مات يخلى سربه يسرح حيث يشاء(.
وعن ابن مسعود قال: )الموت تحفة لكل مسلم(.
وعن أنس قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: )الموت كفارة لكل مسلم(.
وعن الربيع بن خثيم قال: )ما من غائب ينتظره المؤمن خير له من الموت(.
وعن مالك بن مغول قال: )بلغني أن أول سرور يدخل على المؤمن الموت، لما يرى من كرامة الله تعالى وثوابه
