Para recitar el Rosario con verdadero provecho se debe estar en estado de gracia o por lo menos tener la firme resolución de renunciar al pecado mortal.

1. Mientras se sostiene el Crucifijo hacer la Señal de la Cruz y luego recitar el Credo.

2. En la primera cuenta grande recitar un Padre Nuestro.

3. En cada una de las tres siguientes cuentas pequeñas recitar un Ave María.

4. Recitar un Gloria antes de la siguiente cuenta grande.

5. Anunciar el primer Misterio del Rosario de ese día y recitar un Padre Nuestro en la siguiente cuenta grande.

6. En cada una de las diez siguientes cuentas pequeñas (una decena) recitar un Ave María mientras se reflexiona en el misterio.

7. Recitar un Gloria luego de las diez Ave Marías. También se puede rezar la oración de Fátima.

8. Cada una de las siguientes decenas es recitada de la misma manera: anunciando el correspondiente misterio, recitando un Padre Nuestro, diez Ave Marías y un Gloria mientras se medita en el misterio.

9. Cuando se ha concluído el quinto misterio el Rosario suele terminarse con el rezo del Salve Reina.
