عن كتاب ذم الهوى
تحدث ابن الجوزي في مقدمة كتابه هذا عن سبب تأليفه له فقال: "شكا إليّ بعض من أثرت شكواه إثارة همتي في جمع هذا الكتاب من بلاء ابتلى به، وهوى هوى به، وسألني المبالغة في وصف دواء دائه فأهديت له نصيحة وَديد لأودّائه، وقد أتيت بها على أبلغ ترتيب. من هذا نلحظ السبب الكامن خلف قيام ابن الجوزي بتأليف كتابه هذا الذي عرض فيه لمسألة هي من أهم المسائل التي تعتري الإنسان وقلبهُ، ألا وهي العشق والحب.
فانبرى للتحدث عن هذه المسالة الفتاكة التي أفسدت القلوب والأبدان، وحمل معاول الهدم، متسلحاً بأحاديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأقوال الصحابة والتابعين، وما ذكر من قصص المغرمين، وما ذلك إلا ليبعد المسلم عن السقوط فيما سقطوا.
