পড়লে মনে হয়, রচয়িতা এত সুন্দর কাহিনী বিন্যাস, এত কিছু কল্পনা করলো কী করে! এত কিছু চিন্তা করতে করতে অনেকের প্রতি এই মহারথীরা অন্যায় করে ফেলেছেন এটা ভেবেও দেখেন নি।
যুথিষ্ঠিরকে মহামানব রুপে প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে যেয়ে দ্রৌপদীর উপর যে অন্যায় করা হয়েছে সেটা ভাবনায় আনেন নি।
মহাভারতকে একটি সাহিত্য-মহা সাহিত্য, মানব সভ্যতার ইতিহাসে বৃহত্তম সাহিত্য। কিন্তু সেটা ইতিহাস নির্ভর সাহিত্য কিনা?
এটা নিয়ে বিতর্ক আছে। বর্তমানে মহাভারত এর ভিডিওচিত্র ইউটিউবে পাওয়া যায় ১১০ টা অংশে। এই সিরিয়ালটা ভারতে এবং বাংলাদেশের হিন্দু ধর্মবোদ্ধাদের কাছে সব থেকে বেশী জনপ্রিয়।
অনেকেই ধারণা করেন যে, হিন্দুত্ববাদের উত্থানের আড়ালে এই মহাভারত সিরিয়ালের একটা বিশেষ ভূমিকা আছে। কারন এত ব্যাপক ভাবে আদিভারত নিয়ে এর আগে তেমন কিছু প্রকাশিত হয়নি।

মহাভারত ধর্মীয় স্বাদে উপস্থাপন করা হলেও তা শুধুমাত্র যৌথ পরিবারের কর্তৃত্ব দখলের লক্ষ্যে রাজনৈতিক দ্বন্দের গল্পের রুপক উপস্থাপন। মহাভারতের ঐতিহাসিক সত্যতা কতটা আর সাহিত্যিক রচনা কতটা তা যাচাইয়ের আগে মহাভারত রচয়িতা সম্পর্কে একটু জেনে নিই।

সন্দেহাতীত ভাবে রামায়ন-মহাভারত যেহেতু সাহিত্য, অতএব এগুলোর মধ্যে বিজ্ঞান নিয়ে ব্যাখ্যা বা আলোচনা করে ধর্মকে বিজ্ঞানের কাঁধে ভর করে চালতে দেয়ার মানে হয় না। আর ব্যাখ্যা যাই হোক এইকথা স্বীকার করতে আপত্তি নেই যে মহাভারত একটি মহাকাব্যগ্রন্থ – শক্তিশালী লেখকদের গ্রন্থনায় একটি অতুলনীয় রূপকথার কাহিনী।
এর খন্ড খন্ড কাহিনী নিয়ে প্রচুর যাত্রা পালাও হয়েছে। রবিঠাকুর কর্ণ-কুন্তী সংবাদ আর চিত্রাংগদা লিখেছেন সাহিত্যের ভিত্তি কল্পনায়-সেই কল্পনার জগতেই মহাভারত চিরজাগরুক।
