সেক্ষেত্রে তুলসীদাসের (১৫৩৩-১৬২৪) হিন্দী রামায়ণ (তুলসীদাসী রামায়ণ বা রামচরিত মানস) বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য। এটি উত্তর ভারতে বহুল প্রচলিত ও জনপ্রিয়।

উপরিউক্ত বাংলা রামায়ণগুলি সংস্কৃত রামায়ণের অনুবাদ হলেও রচয়িতার প্রতিভা, জীবন, জগৎ ও সমাজ সম্পর্কে অভিজ্ঞতা, রচনারীতি ইত্যাদি কারণে নতুন সৃষ্টির মর্যাদা লাভ করেছে। বিশেষ করে কৃত্তিবাসী রামায়ণ স্বমহিমায় উজ্জ্বল। মূলের সঙ্গে বিষয়গত অনেক পার্থক্য থাকলেও বাঙালি হিন্দুসমাজে এর ব্যাপক প্রভাব আছে।

মধুসুদন দত্ত রামায়ণের অংশ-বিশেষ অবলম্বনে তাঁর বিখ্যাত মেঘনাদ বধ কাব্য রচনা করেন। আধুনিক বাংলা সাহিত্যে উপমাদি অলংকার এবং চিত্রকল্প রচনায় রামায়ণের বহু ঘটনার ও চরিত্রের উল্লেখ আছে।
