আর ব্রহ্মের স্বরূপ কি, জগতের সৃষ্টি কিভাবে, ব্রহ্মের সঙ্গে জীবের সম্পর্ক কি এসব আলোচিত হয়েছে জ্ঞানকাণ্ডে। জ্ঞানকাণ্ডই বেদের সারাংশ। এখানে বলা হয়েছে যে, ব্রহ্ম বা ঈশ্বর এক, তিনি সর্বত্র বিরাজমান, তাঁরই বিভিন্ন শক্তির প্রকাশ বিভিন্ন দেবতা।

অথর্ববেদ থেকে পাওয়া যায় তৎকালীন চিকিৎসাবিদ্যার একটি বিস্তারিত বিবরণ। এসব কারণে বেদকে শুধু ধর্মগ্রন্থ হিসেবেই নয়, প্রাচীন ভারতের রাজনীতি, অর্থনীতি, সমাজ, সাহিত্য ও ইতিহাসের একটি দলিল হিসেবেও গণ্য করা হয়।
