'সেই সময়' উপন্যাসের প্রথম খণ্ড প্ৰথম প্ৰকাশিত হয় এপ্রিল ১৯৮১ সালে এবং দ্বিতীয় খণ্ড প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয় এপ্রিল ১৯৮২ সালে। ১৯৮৩ সালে এই উপন্যাস বঙ্কিম পুরস্কার এবং ১৯৮৫ সালে আকাদেমি পুরস্কারে সম্মানিত হয়েছে। সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় তাঁর এই সুবৃহত এবং বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস 'সেই সময়'-এর প্রথম খণ্ড উৎসর্গ করেছিলেন ঈশ্বরচন্দ্র বিদ্যাসাগরকে; দ্বিতীয় খণ্ড উৎসর্গ করেছিলেন কালীপ্রসন্ন সিংহকে।"At that time, the book is the first volume prakasita Book was first published in April 1981 and the second portion 198 in April.
