بدءاً بالأطباق الرئيسية، نذكر أوّلاً أنّ المجبوس هو الطبق الوطني، وهو أحد أشهر أكلات الأرز الخليجية بعد الكبسة السعودية، ويمكن تحضيره باللحم، بالدجاج أو بالسمك . ومن الأكلات الأخرى المشهورة نذكر المشخول الذي هو عبارة عن أرز مع توابل، القبوط وهو عجين محشي بالبصل والبهار ومطبوخ مع اللحم، المعدس وهو أرز مطهي مع عدس أصفر والمربين وهو طبق مؤلّف من الأرز والربيان، إلى جانب غيرها من الوصفات اللذيذة التي تتميز بخلطة توابلها. والأطباق الكويتية منوعة جداً بحيث تضمّ عدّة مكونات مغذية من أرز، لحوم، حبوب، دواجن، أسماك وخضروات وغيرها.
