Sechshundert Jahre nach dem Konzil von Konstanz treffen sich König Sigismund und der griechische Gelehrte Manuel Chrysoloras wieder auf den Stufen des Münsters von Konstanz.

Bei einem Gang durch die Stadt unterhalten sich die beiden historischen Persönlichkeiten über Gegenwart und Vergangenheit. An zehn Stationen diskutieren sie über die Bedeutung des Konzils und dessen Auswirkungen, über das Verhältnis zwischen Ost und West, Religion und Politik, aber auch über Privates und Alltägliches.

So wird vor dem Hintergrund des heutigen Konstanz die Zeit des Konzils lebendig. In dem Gespräch werden die unterschiedlichen Sichtweisen des Königs und des Gelehrten, die zeitlosen Widersprüche zwischen Macht und Wissen, Wirklichkeit und Ideal deutlich, aber auch das, was alle Menschen bewegt: Liebe und Tod.

Ein Projekt von Gabrielle Alioth zum Jubiläum „600 Jahre Konstanzer Konzil 2104 – 2018“, unterstützt vom Kulturbüro und der Konzilstadt Konstanz, gefördert mit Mitteln des Kunstfonds Konzil.Six hundred years after the Council of Constance, King Sigismund and the Greek scholar Manuel Chrysoloras meet again on the steps of the cathedral of Constance.

On a walk through the city, the two historical figures about the present and past entertained. At ten stations, they discuss the importance of the council and its impact on the relationship between East and West, religion and politics, but also about private and ordinary.

Thus, the time of the Council is alive in the context of today's constancy. During the meeting, the different perspectives of the king and of the scholar, the timeless contradictions between power and knowledge, reality and the ideal are clear but also what all people moves: love and death.
