خلاصه رمان:
داستان درباره ي دختري به اسم فيبي سامرويل هست که پدرش صاحب يک تيم فوتبال امريکايي بوده که بعد از مرگش ، وصيت ميکنه که تنها درصورتي فيبي وارث اون تيم ميشه که بتونه اون سال تيم رو برنده ي ليگ کنه!!!وگرنه تيم به پسر عموش ميرسه .
مشکل اينجا است که فيبي هيچي از فوتبال نميدونه و به دلايلي از پدرش دور بوده و با هم اختلاف داشتن . تا اينکه با سرمربي تيم به اسم دن کالبو اشنا ميشه . که اولش زياد از هم خوششون نمياد . هردوشون هم سرسخت و کله شقن ، و با اينکه با هم دعوا ميکنن ولي با اين حال جذب هم ميشن . چيزي که دن درباره ي فيبي فکر ميکنه اينه که اون دختريه که فقط قيافه داره ، ولي……..


صفحه ي اول رمان:
فيبي سامرويل، سگ پشمالوي فرانسوي و دوست پسر مجارستاني اش را به مراسم خاک سپاري پدر خود آورده و با اين کار همه را سخت عصباني کرده بود. او در حاليکه مثل ملکه هاي فيلم هاي دهه ي پنجاه، سگ پشمالوي سفيدش را در آغو ش گرفته و عينک آفتابي اش راکه فريم سنگي داشتبه چشمش زده بود، در گورستان نشسته بود. تشخيص اين که کدام يک از اين سه نفر مناسب آن مکان نبودند براي ديگر عزاداران سخت بود، سگ پشمالويي که موهايش به خوبي کوتاه شده و با يک جفت گل سر ساتن هلويي رنگ بسته شده بود، يا دوست بسيار جذاب مجارستانيِ فيبي که موهاي بلندي داشت و آن ها را دم اسبي بسته بود و يا خودِ فيبي.
