4人のプレイヤーがテーブルを囲み136枚あまりの牌を引いて役を揃えることを数回行い、得点を重ねていくゲーム。勝敗はゲーム終了時における得点の多寡と順位で決定される。ゲームのルールは非常に複雑であるが発祥の地である中国のほか、日本、アメリカ合衆国などの国々で親しまれている。

現在の中国語においては麻雀のことを一般に「麻将」（マージャン májiàng）という。Let's aim at S rank!

Four players surround the table, draw 136 pieces of tiles and draw the roles several times and play a game. Winning or losing is determined by the size and ranking of the score at the end of the game. The rule of the game is very complicated, but it is familiar to countries such as Japan, the United States and other countries besides the birthplace of China.

In the current Chinese language, Mahjong is generally referred to as "majin" (mahjong magazine).
