로타리는 지난 20세기초, 점과 같은 작은 불씨에서 시작하여 인류가 이륙한 가장 숭고한 조직으로 크게 발전하였다.

로타리 업적은 지구촌 인류사 21세기로 이어온 가장 자랑스럽고 보람찬 초아의 봉사활동이다.

로타리의 목적은 봉사의 이상을 모든 가치있는 사업 활동의 기초가 되도록 고취하고 육성하며, 특히 다음 사항들을 힘써 행하는데 있다.

첫째,봉사의 기회를 마련하기 위하여 교우의 범위를 넓힌다.
둘째,사업과 전문직업의 도덕적 수준을 높이고 모든 유익한 직업의 진가를 인식하며 로타리안 각자는 자기 직업을 통하여 사회에 봉사할 수 있도록 직업의 품위를 높인다.
셋째,로타리안 각자의 개인 생활이나 사업 및 사회 생활에서 봉사의 이상을 실천한다.

The objective of Rotary is so inspiring a basis of worthy enterprise and foster the ideal of service activities, and to encourage and foster the following line in particular.

First, the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
Second High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian occupation as an opportunity to serve society through his job.
Third, the application of the ideal of each Rotarian's personal, business, and served in social life.
Fourth, saeopin and professionalism combined with the ideal of service shall promote international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship.
