Основная цель общественного движения лечение онкобольных детей на уровне мировых стандартов с обеспечением в дальнейшем высокого качества жизни.

Родители решили объединиться, чтобы привлечь внимание общественности и властей к проблемам лечения онкобольных детей. В 1989 году было создано общественное объеди­нение «Гематологи мира — детям», преобразованное в 2001 году в Челябинское городское общественное движение помощи онкобольным детям «Искорка» (ЧГОДПОД «Искорка»).

ЧГОДПОД «Искорка» является членом международных организаций родителей детей больных раком – ICCCPO и SIOP, а также сотрудничает с аналогичными организациями по всей России и СНГ.

Искорка реализует широкий спектр программ, направленных на семьи с онкобольными детьми Челябинской области:
- Помощь больнице

- Организация бытовых условий в больнице

- Онкоолимпиада Южного Урала
