Aquascaping is a craft of water plants arranging, as well as stone, cavework, or driftwood, aesthetically aquarium-in-force, gardening under water. Aquascape's design includes a number of different styles, including the inspired Japanese-style Japanese garden-style and natural style. Typically, aquascape houses fish and plants, although it is possible to make aquascape with plants only, or with rockwork or other hardscape and no plants. Although the primary goal of aquascaping is to create a sly underwater landscape, the technical aspects of water plant maintenance should also be considered. Many factors must be balanced in a closed system of aquarium tanks to ensure the success of an aquascape. These factors include filtration, maintaining enough carbon dioxide to support underwater photosynthesis, substrate and fertilization, lighting, and algal control.
