Physical security is that part of the Army security system, based on threat analysis, concerned with procedures and physical measures designed to safeguard personnel, property, and operations; to prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, materiel, and information; and to protect against espionage, terrorism, sabotage, damage, misuse, and theft.

The physical security program is the interrelationship of various components that complement each other to produce a comprehensive approach to security matters. These components include—at the minimum—the physical security plan, physical security inspections and surveys, participation in force protection working groups, and a continuing assessment of the installation’s physical security posture.
