The official mobile application of the Regional Department of Civil Protection (Emergency Agency) of Sicily is a support tool to land monitoring, surveillance of sites of interest and broadcasting of training procedures and information. Is aimed at citizens, students and tourists of Sicily and at operators, technicians and volunteers of the Civil Protection. The aim of the app is to illustrate with cards and multimedia contents the sites and the attractions in the region from the digitized archives of civil protection, in order to give information (technical, outreach, cultural, etc) about the territory and enriched by Augmented Reality. The application will make available to the citizen and to the technician information on sensitive sites and related hazards (risks of hydrogeological, sismic, volcanic and others but also escape routes, helipads, and areas of interest for prevention) and will send alarms, didactics or standards of conduct up to date in near real time. For the tourist the application will be a tool to learn about news, points of interest, museums, events, cultural boards, "eat", "where to stay" in the region and to read and share that information on social networks. Finally, the app will provide information about the sites geo-localized also through proximity sensors that will send on-site, to smartphones and tablets photo, cards, text, PDF, videos, and everything else needed to improve the quality of life and knowledge of the citizen, to enrich the visiting experience of tourists, to complete the survey or inspection of the Civil Protection operators.
