About Automatic GPS Flight Log Android App

Description

This free flightlog app takes over the chore of writing your flight times! Just activate it during your pre-flight checks and the app will do the job. If wanted, the automatic flight logger uses the built-in microphone of your portable device to detect the start of your aircraft's engine. After that, start, landing, block and air times will be determined by means of GPS. All times are UTC. The app also logs name and ICAO Code of the departure and arrival airports. These are automatically queried from a database with almost 40,000 airports worldwide! You can either share the logbook file as email attachment of store it in any cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox and later edit or format it in a spreadsheet program like for example Excel or Open Office Calc. You can view the GPS tracks of the single flights in Google Earth or any KML viewer, share them as email attachment or store them in some cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox.

Features and Settings
Features
Log motor time

The recording starts, as soon as the noise level exceeds a threshold for at least 3 seconds. It finishes, if the plane stops and the noise level falls below the threshold for another three seconds. The threshold can be individually changed during the recording, as long as the plane is located on the ground.

Log multible (Plus-Feature)

When enabled, the logging for the next flight will be started immediately after a flight has finished. So you cannot forget to start the logging for your return flight.

Aerobatic Mode (Plus-Feature)

In aerobatic mode, the GPS receiver of your device uses shorter sampling intervals. With this, tight turns and figures will be tracked with higher accuracy. Also, the G-Forces will be logged as
extended KML track data.

Cloudsync (Plus-Feature)

With Cloudsync, your flights (times and paths) can be automatically transferred between different Android devices. For example, flights that were recorded on the mobile phone can also be made available on a tablet. Cloudsync uses your personal Google Drive online storage for synchronization. You must be logged in with your Google Account, before you can use Cloudsync.

Settings
General settings

  • Recognition speed: Minimum speed above which take-offs can be recognized. Recommended: Vs0 - 10. i.e. for Cessna 172: 30 kt

  • Local time: Use local time (LT) instead of UTC

  • Simulation: Test your app without having to fly. Replays a real flight of approx. 30 min in time lapse.

Units

  • Speed: kts or km/h

  • Altitude: Feet or Meters

  • Climb Rate: Feet/min or m/s

KML file options

  • Adjust altitude: Altitude values gathered from GPS are inaccurate. With this option enabled, your app loads the elevation underneath the track from the internet and uses it to correct its altitude.

  • Clamp track to ground: If enabled, the track follows the terrain. Otherwise, it shows your flightpath through the air.

  • Extrude track to ground: Draws vertical lines from the measuring points to the ground

  • Extended KML(Plus-Feature):
  • Writes speed and climb rate into track. Chart can be visualized with Google Earth.
