গত ২ অক্টোবর প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা উন্নতমানের জাতীয় পরিচয়পত্র (স্মার্টকার্ড) বিতরণের কার্যক্রমের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করেন । আর সোমবার থেকে নাগরিকের হাতে স্মার্টকার্ড তুলে দেয়া শুরু করবে নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি)।
