Desde 1809, quando foi fundada em Nova Iorque (Estados Unidos), a Sociedade Bíblica Internacional (SBI), hoje Biblica, tem como missão promover o ensino, a tradução e a distribuição da Palavra de Deus pelo mundo.

O ministério de distribuição da Palavra de Deus, inicialmente entre os novaiorquinos e entre os imigrantes que ali chegavam, expandiu-se por todas as regiões do país e, depois, pelo mundo todo.

Um ano depois de sua fundação, a Biblica enviou recursos para apoiar o ministério de tradução da Bíblia na Índia, iniciado por William Carey. E o primeiro projeto de publicação foi concretizado em 1814, com a publicação da Bíblia em francês, que seria usada em um trabalho missionário no Canadá.Since 1809, when it was founded in New York (United States), the International Bible Society (SBI) today Biblica, aims to promote teaching, translation and distribution of the Word of God for the world.
