The reporting of side effects is important for a good monitoring of the safety of drugs. By collecting, registering and analysing reports of side effects, new knowledge is generated. A large part of identified safety issues with drugs and the action taken to minimize these are the result of reports of side effects of drugs from health care professionals and the general public.
