INFO:

★ BMI - Body Mass Index: is defined as the bodyweight divided by the square of the height. It provides a rough guide since the BMI doesn't take into account a persons build or the composition of the body weight.

★ BMR - Basal Metabolic Rate: is the amount of energy expended while at rest in a neutrally temperate environment, in the post-absorptive state (meaning that the digestive system is inactive, which requires about twelve hours of fasting).

This calculator will determine how many calories you burn each day based on your age, gender, height, weight and current level of activity. When selecting your activity level use:

• Sedentary (little or no exercise)
• Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week)
• Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week)
• Vigorously Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week)
• Extremely Active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training)

This is referred to as your basal metabolic rate or BMR calculation and tells you: How Many Calories Do I Burn a Day?

★ BFP - Body Fat Percentage: of a human or other living being is the total mass of fat divided by total body mass; body fat includes essential body fat and storage body fat. Essential body fat is necessary to maintain life and reproductive functions. The percentage of essential body fat for women is greater than that for men, due to the demands of childbearing and other hormonal functions. The percentage of essential fat is 2–5% in men, and 10–13% in women (referenced through NASM).

★ WHtR - Waist-to-Height Ratio: also called waist-to-stature ratio (WSR), is defined as the waist circumference divided by the height. It measures abdominal obesity and therefore can be used as a better indicator of health risks than BMI (Body Mass Index).

★ WHR - Waist-to-Hip Ratio: is the ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips. This is calculated as waist measurement divided by hip measurement (W ÷ H). The WHR has been used as an indicator or measure of health, and the risk of developing serious health conditions. WHR correlates with fertility (with different optimal values for males and females).

More information about BMI, WHtR and WHR classification which is used by this calculator is available on the World Health Organization (WHO) website.
