Basic Occupational Health Services (BOHS) for Informal Occupations explores the diseases and clinical conditions unique to the occupational settings of the informal sector. Many of the clinical presentations are wrongly diagnosed as occupational status is not known or not enquired about during case taking. This is an initiative by the Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH) and designed to be a ready reference guide to such occupation related clinical conditions
This app is primarily for providing easy reference to Primary Health Care Physicians and has been developed in the context of the project development of “Basic Occupational Health Services (BOHS) for Informal Industry through Primary Care”. This project, funded by the Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH) has been developed for propogation of Basic Occupational Health Services (BOHS) and to ensure the provision of services for all workplaces which so far have not had such services available or the services have not met their occupational health needs.
The BOHS are an effort to provide occupational health services available to each and every working individual in the country irrespective of sector of economy, size of company, geographical area, or nature of employment contract. The objectives of this app are two-fold
Capacity building of primary health care providers in rural areas by providing subject-specific training and monitoring inputs to create a health workforce trained in occupational health practice and capable of adequate delivery
Wider dissemination of preventive and control principles of occupational health in the workplaces in the unorganized sector through the agency of the primary health care physicians
