If you are turning the display off and on VERY QUICKLY a few times (to be exact 3 times off and on withing 5 seconds) the device will do an additional option and vibrate.
If the device vibrates, you know that the option has executed.
This option does write the suspend state forcefully and forces a suspend and resume.
I hope this proves as a valid workaround, morckx did some experiments with the suspend state and it worked for him 3 out of 3 times.

About BSOD Workaround Android App
This application requires a rooted device!
BSOD Workaround starts a service, which listenes for screen activity.
When the screen turns on, it manually increases the screen brightness of the screen panel. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you want you can also tell the application to start the service on bootup.
