Felgueiras is located in the Tâmega e Sousa subregion, which is comprised of 11 municipalities. With an area of 1.831 Km2 (706.95 mi2), this subregion occupies 8.6% of the Northern Region of Portugal. It has a population of 431,000 inhabitants. 58,000 reside in Felgueiras, whose population is among the youngest in Portugal and Europe.
The municipality of Felgueiras is experiencing a rapid growth, distinguishing itself for its talent, unique vocation and entrepreneurship. The product of its population’s labour translates into more than 50% of all national footwear export, approximately one third of national production of Vinho Verde (young sparkling wine) and most of the kiwi national export.
Felgueiras also displays expressive economy Dynamics regarding confectionery, handcraft and local trade in general.
