Cuando hablamos de los cantantes mexicanos famosos, automáticamente nos remitimos a la época de oro del cine mexicano. Esta época se inició en 1936 hasta el 1959.

No es extraño que las fechas coincidan con el inicio de la segunda guerra mundial y los años de la post guerra. La industria fílmica de los Estados Unidos y de Europa sufrió un duro golpe cuando casi todos los recursos en ambas regiones se dedicaron exclusivamente al esfuerzo bélico, dejándole a México todo el mercado libre de este país y de Latinoamérica.

De esta época de oro en el cine mexicano, surgieron cantantes mexicanos famosos como Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete y Javier Solís que hicieron muy populares las canciones rancheras mexicanas, con temas y canciones de la revolución mexicana o simplemente música mexicana con mariachi.

La música tradicional mexicana adquirió renombre mundial. Las canciones rancheras mexicanas antiguas como Cielito Lindo y Allá en el Rancho Grande interpretadas por Tito Guisar estaban ya pasando de moda, cuando aparecieron estas luminarias para darle un nuevo impulso a la música ranchera mexicana,

Entre las figuras que alcanzaron el nivel de ídolos del cine mexicano, destaca Pedro Infante. Tratar de explicar el fenómeno Pedro Infante es, a estas alturas, una empresa inútil. Sus primeros filmes no apuntaban hacia la creación de un mito. El resultado de su reunión con el director Ismael Rodríguez en Nosotros los pobres (1947), sirvió para consolidar la figura de Infante dentro de la mitología del cine mexicano. Para muchos, Infante representó lo que todo mexicano debía ser: hijo respetuoso, amigo incondicional, amante romántico, hombre de palabra.
De la extensa galería de estrellas del cine mexicano, Pedro Infante es el único que ha podido unificar los sentimientos del público. Su popularidad ha seguido creciendo conforme se agregan nuevas generaciones. Su figura sigue siendo la más importante de la cinematografía mexicana.

¿Cuando termino la época de oro del cine mexicano?

El 15 de abril de 1957, México entero se estremeció al conocer la noticia de la muerte de Pedro Infante. Con él, simbólicamente, moría también la época de oro del cine nacional.
De ese tamaño fue la importancia del mayor ídolo del cine y música mexicana.
