The objective of the 'CarSeatAlert' mobile application is to provide the app's user with a method/tool to help avoid the potential health risks (physical, mental or other) associated with the protection of a child (or pet) left unattended in a hot vehicle. This mobile app does not guarantee the safety or health well-being of any child (or pet) in your vehicle as a result of using the 'CarSeatAlert' app.

According to the 'KidsAndCars.org' website, "Even on mild weather days, the temperature inside a closed vehicle can reach dangerous levels within an hour, posing major health risks to small children or pets left inside, Conservative Reports testing shows... It can be a four-season threat. Consumer Reports testing showed even when it was 61 degrees Fahrenheit (F) outside, the temperature inside a closed car reached more than 105 degrees F in just 1 hour, an extremely dangerous and potentially fatal level for a child... The threshold for heat stroke in children is when the internal body temperature reaches about 104 degrees F. And a child is at serious risk of death if his or her internal body reaches 107 degrees F, according to medical experts."

This mobile app is used to help ensure that the vehicle driver that is transporting a child to a specific location (school, daycare center, etc) safely removes the child from the vehicle when the driver arrives at the location.

In this app, the user (driver of the vehicle) must enter into the app their own mobile phone number (and possibly an alternative individual's mobile phone number) in order to receive an urgent SMS alert alarm text message. The alert text message must also be entered into the app along with a specific alarm time. The app will send an audible alert sound and message to the user at a designated time defined by the app's alarm timer. In addition, both the app's user and the alternative individual will receive an alert text message on their mobile phones. As a result, the alternative individual (if activated by the app's user) can followup with the user to make certain the child was safely removed from the vehicle and deposited at the designated location.
