CASCAP stands for the Cholangiocarcinoma Screening and Care Program. Although CASCAP was initiated well over two years ago, it was only fully implemented in February 2014, when Khon Kaen University celebrated its 50th anniversary, and 50 years of social responsibility. Faculty and researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Public Health are the founders of CASCAP, supported financially by KKU under government grants specifically allocated for projects involving poverty and inequality resolution in the region. Thus, CASCAP became not only a research project but also an ongoing project to raise and sustain the awareness of CCA in society. For these reasons, CASCAP is associated with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation of Thailand and has closely collaborated with other sectors, including the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of the Interior. Indeed, CASCAP has become an integral part of society in the northeast of Thailand.
