Application castles.today is an element of a project “Castles”. The app serves as an encyclopaedia and your carry-on compendium of sound knowledge about castles. You will find here loads of monumental buildings from all the corners of the world and from every historical era – ancient forts, medieval castles, baroque palaces, Slavic gords, Mauretanian fortresses, exotic strongholds from the Far East or the New World. Every single piece of architecture is described in a clear, easy and attractive way – full of historical trivia, interesting facts about their construction, functions and historical events that these buildings were a part of.
Descriptions are supplemented by abundant photo galleries which, at times, show the interior of castles. Also, you will find in our app all handy information about opening hours, the possibility of visiting certain places, or other attractions available on-site (e.g. festivals, tournaments or fairs.) Every castle has a “Localization” tab which, after being clicked on, will move you to Google Maps. This option makes the app to be a practical and useful tool for planning your journey.
Castles.today is an app made for every user who is fascinated by castles, their rich history and architectural details. We believe that the combination of solid knowledge with an attractive and modern form of presenting this information (as an easy-in-use mobile app) will contribute to popularizing history and will ignite the curiosity about the world. The project is continually being developed and extended – currently, you can find here castles from virtually 60 countries all over the world!
