Changdai is a village in Kutch, Gujarat, India. Changdai derived it’s name from the fact that it was divided in four fariyas.
The village (gaam) was spread over a small 4-5 acre area. There were a total of 100 houses; 30 houses of Jains, 30 houses of Gadhvi, 30 houses of Harijans and 30 houses of Muslims.
In the year of 1950, a common panchayat governed the villages of Changdai and Mapar. In the year 1955, Sarpanch of our village was Late Kesarma Pasoo Nagda, a lady; and that is a big pride for our village even today!
The village has been blessed with many Temples (Mandir) and Derasars, some of which exist even today. Mapar, Bambhdai, Morkuba, Vidh, Kokalia and Dedhia are a few villages located close to Changdai.
Because of unfortunate violence caused by some people, the village was demolished in 1985. After a few years, as there was no-one to take care of Jain Derasar, our Vadil did “Uthapan Vidhi” of Shri Anantnath Dada in 1991 and did Prathishta and now Anantnath Dada is biraajmaan at Anant Chhaya Derasar in Ghatkopar, Mumbai.
Last Sneh Milan of Changdai gram was held 30 years back.
At present, the village has uninterrupted electricity and ample water supply. The village also has a wind-farm installed and operated by Suzlon which generates clean electricity from wind energy.
