Colorado Wetlands Mobile App delivers information about Colorado’s wetlands to users via smartphones or tablets. The Wetlands App is a unique and innovative tool to assist wetland professionals and the public identify wetland plants, locate nearby wetlands, and understand common wetland types.
The Wetlands App contains three main sections: 1) Wetland Plants: View detailed descriptions and photos of 711 plant species found in Colorado’s wetland and riparian areas. The information is searchable through many different criteria and filters. 2) Wetland Maps: Access digital National Wetland Inventory (NWI) maps for the entire state of Colorado. See wetlands mapped near you and use your location to search for wetland plants potentially in your area. 3) Wetland Types: Read brief description of the most common wetland and riparian types found in Colorado. Wetland types can also be used as a filter for searching plant species.
The wetland plant descriptions are adapted from two publications produced by the Colorado Natural Heritage Program: Field Guide to Colorado’s Wetland Plants: Identification, Ecology and Conservation by Denise Culver and Joanna Lemly and Common Wetland Plants of Colorado’s Eastern Plains: A Pocket Guide by Denise Culver.
The Wetlands App provides wetland professionals and public citizens alike with information to guide conservation and build appreciation of the state’s value wetland resource.
