Contractor Tools

is part of the Construction Help family of apps developed by CodeKayak, a Mobile Application Design and Development startup. It was designed with the Construction Technology user in mind (Trimble/Sitech, Topcon, Leica, etc.). However, the tools are non-specific and any construction contractor (site, road, concrete, etc.) will find the tools within this app useful.

App Features:
Construction Calculator - Calculate quantities in the field, during a meeting or anywhere on the go.
Units Converter - Accurately convert units of measure.
Project List - Enter a project as quickly as writing a text message.
Quick To-Do - Enter an item to do as quickly as writing a text message.
Distance - Unique two point distance calculation, completely independent of your current location.
GPS Accuracy - Troubleshoot GPS accuracy issues, like time-of-day or current location.
Auto-Texting - Don’t leave customers waiting for a response while driving or in a meeting.

Known Limitations:
1. The Distance function does not zoom to your current location when the screen is initialized or the user presses the “Refresh” button. This is because I currently have to hard code a latitude and longitude position to enable the unique two point distance calculation. I hope to add this capability in the future, while maintaining the uniqueness.
2. The Auto-Texting screen requires you to have the screen active for the function to work. I programmed the application to disallow your mobile device to sleep while in this screen; however, staying in the screen is not always feasible in situations where auto-texting could be useful. For example, this limitation seemed to be more noticeable during meetings as opposed to while driving during our beta testing period.
