Pixels per inch (PPI) is a measurement of the pixel density of a digital display such as a mobile screen, laptop or television. It is related to the size of the display in inches and the total number of pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions. Horizontal and vertical density are usually the same, as most devices have square pixels. In simple words, it tells that how many pixels are there in 1 inch of your screen!
This app will enable you to find PPI of any Android device if you know it's advertised screen size. PPI is a very important metric to compare display quality of 2 devices. E.g. a mobile phone with a screen size of 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1080 * 1920 has a PPI of 401. Similarly, another device with the same screen size but resolution of 720 * 1280 has a PPI of 260. Thus first display is better! Higher PPI makes the pixels undetectable, even when display is observed very closely.
Majority of the display producing companies don't advertise the PPIs of their display products. This app is the easiest way to find it out!
