Ten complete levels and end-of-game landing page; more improved graphics, sound effects and music; more efficient resource use; better sprite management; more detailed help and clues; various small bug fixes.
Unlike the original version, which I admitted to be crudely drawn, super easy, instruction-free, and with silly sound effects, I decided it was time for an update. Professional, licensed artwork and music give DragonFlys the polish it was missing. The upper levels, which could get really complicated, have been optimized so include more features but take up less memory on your device. Many pages of optional instructions, descriptions and hints have been added to the hamburger menu, so that IF you want help, it's available. Otherwise, fly blind and try to figure out the little nuances of each level on your own. When you're done, try getting a higher score. There are even some sneaky tricks to do that, but I'll never tell.
This is my first Android app. I need your feedback. How can I make it more challenging to you? Or give it to your youngest child to try. I'm still not sure of my target audience.
DragonFlys (intentionally spelled that way) is a simple form of entertainment for non-serious gamers of any age. The object is to fly your dragonfly around the pond eating insects to satisfy your craving for protein and rid the pond of pests.
Your enemies in this game are the frogs. They can appear at any time and, once one surfaces, it can see where you are. Frogs have long sticky tongues and will eat you as well as the pests that you eat. So it's important to eat your fill before the frog does. As you progress, you may find some additional baddies you'll want to keep away from.
DragonFlys require a touch screen or a mouse. It can be played on the majority of Android devices, including smartphones and tablets. There are no controls other than to touch the screen where you want your dragonfly to go. Conceptually, it's that simple, making DragonFlys a game for anybody (and any thing) with at least one working finger.
Wherever possible, you will be prompted by images, and not words. This is to make DragonFlys a game that could be played in any language, or in no language at all. However, if you need or want it, you have access to pages of instructions, descriptions and hints.
Be sure to visit the Credits screen at least once, where I give a shoutout to all of the folks who made DragonFlys possible.
Enjoy!
