The idea of Edit Platter was born both as the expression of a strongly felt personal need and a shared collective frustration — the need to keep oneself intelligently informed in a cluttered and chaotic world of 24×7 news media. And the frustration that it was humanly impossible to do so on one’s own given the sheer diverse magnitude of available sources of news, information and opinion.
Edit Platter is an answer to this proliferating information overload. It will curate the most relevant, the most readable, the most thought-provoking and the most visually appealing content from across print, television and new media.
Edit Platter will act as an intelligent filter, a kind of sieve through which only the finest in news, views, opinion and analysis will pass through. But that’s not all. In a world where content providers take pride in being brazenly one-sided, we will seek to strike a balance, presenting our readers with well-argued and diverse shades of opinion and enabling them to make reasoned and informed choices.
We have nothing against those who believe in partisan causes and particular ideologies. But we see our role differently. We will be guided by the creed of solid, old school journalism. On our Platters you will get to read nearly every shade of opinion and judge every side of an argument.
This is not to say that we will not offer an opinion. But our opinion will not stray beyond the confines of the Editor’s Take. Nor will it fit into any neat ideological binaries of Left or Right, Pro or Anti a particular leader or personality. In one word, our opinions will not conform to predictable, pre-defined positions
Edit Platter will aim to be a trusted, non-partisan partner –surfing the content universe and thoughtfully curating the best reportage and analysis for you from every angle– on the day’s most important and critical stories.
It is our hope and belief that Edit Platter will be a landmark in Indian digital journalism that will forever change the way news, information and analysis is consumed in the country.
It is said that nothing worthwhile in life is ever given on a platter or for free. But we will seek to defy this conventional wisdom.
