- Added a "Launch at boot" option so that ElectricSign will
automatically start running after the device is powered on.
- Added a once-daily watchdog check to verify that ElectricSign
is running and visible, and to start the app and/or bring it
to the foreground if necessary.
- Made it a bit harder to quit ElectricSign by accident.
* Fixed a bug that caused the WiFi download-attempt-counter
not to reset to zero after a successful web page download.
Electric Sign is a simple application that lets you use your Android device as a self-updating electronic billboard.
When started, Electric Sign will download and display a user-specified web page, then go to sleep for a specified number of (minutes/hours/days). It will then wake up, re-download and refresh the web page, and go back to sleep again. This cycle will repeat indefinitely.
Electric Sign will work on any Android device, but it's especially well-suited for devices with electronic-paper displays (such as the Nook Simple Touch), because these devices require no power to display a static image. This allows them to run Electric Sign for weeks or months at a time on a single battery charge.
Note for Nook Simple Touch users: Be sure to choose "Electric Sign" as your screensaver preference in the Nook Screen settings (that option will appear there after the first time you run Electric Sign). That way your web page will remain visible even after the Nook has gone to sleep.
This version of Electric Sign Android App comes with one universal variant which will work on all the Android devices.
