Install Ephex as a live wallpaper like any other then use the included Ephex app to select and configure effects. The app can also be launched by double-tapping on any open spot on the home screen but it can take Android a second or two to launch the app this way.
This started as a simple project to port some open source OpenGL effects to a wallpaper and soon became a boatload of effects in one live wallpaper. There are a wide variety of effects because not everyone wants wild animation. Not everyone wants subtlety. We tried to include something OpenGL for everyone. Play with the animation speeds and other options to tune the effects to your liking.
Does this use more battery than a fixed background? Yes, a little. But if you have your screen set to blank after 30 or 60 seconds of idle time, our testing shows the increased battery usage is negligible. If you leave it running for 30 minutes, yes, it will consume more battery. When the wallpaper is not on the screen, it is using no cpu/battery. If you like having some wow on your screen, we think you'll find Ephex worth the little bit of battery for everyday use.
If Ephex gets good ratings on Google Play, we'll add more effects over time.
This took many hours to develop so an upgrade option is provided as a tip jar. Anyone throwing a buck in the tip jar by upgrading immediately gets all effects unlocked for a total of 58!
