Over the past century, few nations have undergone such a dramatic
transformation as the UAE. The Etihad Museum tells the story of the
construction of a shared project, the unification of the Emirates: an agreement
rooted in a common past that has led the federation towards a future of peace
and prosperity without renouncing autonomy or diversity.
Through historical material, artefacts, spectacular productions and interactive
features, the Etihad Museum documents the Union from its formative years to
its materialisation and prosperous present, with a central but not exclusive
timeframe ranging from 1968 to recent years.
The museum is structured around eight exhibits. It begins with Etihad: Prelude
to the Museum, where three exhibits offer visitors an illuminating introduction
to the origins of the Union and a stunning orientation video sums up the
unification process.
This prelude is followed by The Early Years, an exhibit that helps visitors to
understand the social, cultural and economic aspects of daily life in the preunific
ation years.
The subsequent exhibits—Road to Unification, Seeds of Unity, Pillars of
Change and Unifying the Emirates—all revolve around the political aspects of
the federationʼs formation. Through immersive virtual theatre, interactive
features, texts, images and even a large-scale timeline of events in the form of
a falaj or traditional irrigation system, visitors will learn about the history of the
Union in a very instructive and participatory way.
The final exhibits present the fruitful outcome of unification: The Constitution
and UAE: One Nation, One Future, which showcases the current achievements
of the UAE and the bright present and future of this nation.
