About EZ Wakeapp Android App

Note: this app doesn't work on some phones.

Monitoring sleep cycles on an Android phone is tricky business, so many things can go wrong. Most other apps claim to work just fine but don't offer you a way to make sure, which doesn't sit right with me. That's why I designed my app to show the user what's going on. It also features a demo mode to show you how the system works but at an accelerated rate so you don't have to wait until morning to figure out what's wrong! Also unlike other apps, this app graphs in real time so you can see what's happening as soon as it happens!

About screenshots:

1. Actual picture of my sleep on 11/8/15. As you can see, I slept horribly! I didn't fall asleep for a while but eventually got into a decent sleep cycle of light and deep sleep. Then I was awoken near the very start of my alarm interval, so I lost 40 minutes of potential sleep! However, I felt energized in the morning! Which is very uncommon for me and my hectic sleep schedule. Notice how the alarm woke me up just as I started moving more than average (yellow line is the average), which means that I just finished a deep sleep cycle and just entered light sleep. So waking up felt completely natural! So to sum things up, I got less than 6 hours of sleep, couldn't fall asleep when I went to bed for about an hour, and still managed to wake up feeling great! A normal alarm would have let me sleep in for about 39 more minutes and then woken me up at a random stage of a sleep cycle, which would have given me my typical sleep deprivation headache and ruined my entire day.

2. Picture of the app running in demo mode as I try to imitate a sleep cycle by leaving the phone on a table to simulate deep sleep and shaking it to simulate light sleep. I then leave it on the table for about 1.5 minutes into the alarm interval before I shake it. As soon as it tracks the shake, it set off the alarm.

3. Graphing interval set to 4 minutes this time, notice how the graph looks more smooth now.

4. Settings menu that saves your last configuration every time!
