STYROFOAM Brand Foam
Heart, 3" x 1/2"Star, 4" x 1/2"Wreath, 3-1/2" x 3/4" x 1" ORBlock, 12" x 12" x 1/2" (if cutting own shapes)
Other Materials
Assorted flannel fat quarters
Low-loft batting
Natural raffia
Artificial greenery
Tools
Serrated knife (if cutting own shapes)
Candle stub or paraffin (if cutting own shapes)
Fine-line black permanent marker
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Craft pins
Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
Thick, white craft glue
Instructions
Note: If using pre-made foam shapes, skip Step 1.
1. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin. Trace cookie cutters or other household shapes onto foam sheet using marker. Cut out shapes using waxed knife.
2. Use marker to trace foam shapes onto batting. Cut out batting shapes 3/16" inside traced lines.
3. Use pencil to trace each ornament twice onto wrong side of flannel; cut out one shape 1/4" outside traced line (back) and second shape 1/2" outside traced line (front).
4. Use glue gun to glue batting to front of foam ornament. Pin larger flannel shape over top of batting. Glue and pin fabric edges to foam to secure. Clip fabric edges as needed so fabric will lay flat.
5. Glue smaller flannel shape to back of ornament, wrapping excess to sides.
6. Cut long, 1/2"-wide flannel strips to cover ornament sides;glue strips in place and pin to secure as glue dries. When dry, remove pins.
7. Refer to photo to tie raffia around each ornament. Tuck and glue small greenery spring under raffia.
8. Cut 8" raffia length and knot ends together. Glue and pin knot to top of ornament for hanger.
