About Flora Chimgan Android App
The Flora of Chimgan Mountains app is a reference guide to the most beautiful and commonly seen plants of the Chimgan Mountains, Tashkent region, Uzbekistan. This app works without an Internet connection. It contains information on 220 plant species with pictures and text descriptions in English, Russian and Uzbek.
The Chimgan Mountains are located in the spurs of the Chatkal range 80 km from Tashkent. Its highest point is the Great Chimgan peak (3309 m a.s.l.). This is a well-known ski resort and a popular recreation area called as "Uzbek Switzerland" for its beauty and health-improving properties, but it is also unique wildlife area with a significant number of rare and endemic plant species that cannot be found anywhere outside the Western Tien Shan.
The search key is broken down into following categories: scientific, Russian or Uzbek name of plant, family, habit (e.g., tree, shrub, herbaceous plant), color, leaf shape, and type of inflorescence.
The app was designed by Open Engine, the content was prepared by Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme in Uzbekistan (SGP GEF, http://www.sgp.uz).
