Um eine Pilotenlizenz zu erwerben, benötigt man ein gültiges Flugfunkzeugnis. Man unterscheidet die folgenden Sprechfunkzeugnisse:

- Allgemeines Sprechfunkzeugnis für den Flugfunkdienst (AZF – deutsch und englisch bzw. AZF E – nur englisch)
Mit dem BZF I besitzt man die Berechtigung auf Flügen nach Instrumentenflug und nach Sichtflugregeln in englischer Sprache den Sprechfunk durchzuführen, dagegen erlaubt das BZF II den Sprechfunk auf Flügen nach Sichtflugregeln in deutscher Sprache und im deutschen Luftraum und mit dem BZF E ist man berechtigt den Sprechfunk auf Flügen nach Sichtflugregeln in englischer Sprache durchzuführen.
Voraussetzung für den Erwerb des BZF ist ein Mindestalter von 15 Jahren bzw. das Vollenden des 15ten Lebensjahres drei Monate nach der Prüfung.
