The FoodSciffer Team is working continuously on improving and extending the functionality for you. More products from more sources will be enabled over time. We are therefore releasing new versions on a regular basis.
FoodSciffer makes it easy to know what you are eating. Hypersensitive to any type of food?
Trying to read and decrypt food labels in the supermarket? Rather not eat too much sugar or salt? FoodSciffer provides a quick and clear answer to all these questions with one simple scan.
FoodSciffer is for everyone who is interested in what ingredients are present in a product. Especially important if you, or someone in your family, is hypersensitive**, in case you are on a diet or simply have specific food preferences.
How does FoodSciffer work?
You can create a profile for yourself and optionally for your family members.
FoodSciffer will combine all of the profile information with the available product information. When searching for, or scanning a product, you can see instantly if there is a match and know whether the product fits your demands or desires. You will immediately see if there are similarities with your allergies, diet or food preferences.
Additionally information about calories, ingredients, quality marks and preparation methods are also displayed. Everyone is now able to quickly and easily choose the products that fit your profile(s) and dietary pattern.
Search and scan.
Searching is possible by product groups (e.g. nuts) or by entering a specific individual product (e.g. peanuts) in the search field to find a product which best fits your profile.
You can also scan a product barcode and FoodSciffer will instantly show you the product information and any matches with your profile(s). Univocal icons indicate whether or not a product is consumable without risk and matches your preferences.
Comments and (shopping) list(s)
FoodSciffer allows you to add your own comments to the product information and you can products to a (or multiple) (shopping) list(s).
At the moment the app contains mainly products which are generally available in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with Dutch and German product information. We will however add more countries and more languages shortly.
** Unfortunately the reliability and completeness of information as it is provided by the supplier is often NOT sufficient to adequately indicate a products “safety”, especially if you are allergic (anaphylactic). We advise you to still read the label carefully and follow the advice of (your) nutritionist.
