Looking for the perfect window can take some time. Even experienced surfers spend hours on forecast websites trying to figure it out. Needless to say is gets even harder as soon as you surf far from your home spot…

Gaia makes it easier by rating surf conditions from 0 (poor) to 10 (pumping). Checking the surf forecast has never been that easy!

Any well traveled surfer would also tell you a successful surf trip must be planned ahead. Destination and timing are the keys. But how to be sure to be at the right time and the right place? Gaia’s Surf Index is here to help you!

The Surf Index is an indicator that measures the potential of each surf spot to deliver good surf for a given month. The better the Surf Index score is, the most probable the surf will be good for that month. The Surf Index was developed to help you measure the consistency of a region to offer good quality surfing.

To determine this indicator, Gaia analysed the surf conditions every 3 hours for the last 20 years. This adds up to more than 29 000 measured/computed surf conditions for every surf spot on earth!
